The Action: Shortly after the asking price on this five-bedroom house was reduced from $459,000 to $419,000, several buyers tried to negotiate for an even better bargain. The clients of Andrea Stark and Honey Moore successfully struck a deal offering $408,000.

What They Got: At some point, this 2½-storey structure in Dovercourt Village built in 1913 was used as a rooming house, though the buyers will likely convert it back into a single-family residence.

For entertaining, there is a fireside living room, along with a separate dining room, kitchen and second-floor den.

There are three bedrooms on the second floor, along with one of two bathrooms. There are another two bedrooms on the top level.

The basement is only partially finished, but it has a separate entrance.

The 37- by 30-foot lot came with a private driveway and attached garage, which the buyers have since removed.

The Agent’s Take: “[The buyers] were looking for something to fix up around the $400,000 range and there wasn’t much,” says agent Andrea Stark. “So they saw potential in this [house] because it’s detached, the area’s good, it has parking and a lot of space.”
